Ramadass’s research team develops nutritional approaches to intervene the biology of undernutrition. Nutritional supplementation, including prebiotics, probiotics, and post-biotic, alters the human microbiome and benefits by modulating the immune system and provide an opportunity to harvest extra energy. He investigates the role of various nutrients for their effect on the gut microbiome and associated immunomodulatory effects in multiple contexts ranging from early childhood malnutrition to frailty in aging populations. He is the PI on various funded projects like comprehensive microbiome & immunophenotypic studies on the persistence of COVID, Co-PI of the Gates Foundation-grant Challenge for fermented foods, characterizing and investigating the role of fermented rice-water on maternal nutrition. He has published about 35 peer-reviewed articles to date and working on other projects related to Oncobiome.
